Science and technology can make the world a safer and faster place. When collaboration results in meaningful innovation, solving real problems, it becomes amazing and awe-inspiring. That is why 3M opened its latest Innovation Center in Washington, D.C. It is a space where people can discover and experience new ways of thinking and learning, observing, and doing work that impact people and reach mutual goals. The Center will serve as a hub for 3M to introduce business and government decision and policy makers to its innovative solutions for markets ranging from energy and healthcare, to manufacturing, transportation, defense, and safety.

One of the great spaces of the Innovation Center is the Collaboration Room, a meeting room designed to share customized presentations and product demonstrations, host discussions, and explore future opportunities related to specific customer’s needs. The room also features an advanced conference system to collaborate and involve scientist and specialist around the globe to enrich the dialogue and exploration with our visitors.

Exhibition hallThis is where visitors will experience how 3M Science. Applied to Life.™ is relevant and meaningful to each of them. The space features exhibits which highlight major trends impacting the world today and examples of 3M’s innovative solutions.

Exhibit overviewThe space features nine exhibits which highlight several major trends impacting the world today. They describe how 3M solutions can help to address current and future challenges. Trends across Transportation, Manufacturing, Energy, Health Care, Consumer, Safety, Electronics and Aerospace are explored. The exhibit hall also includes a virtual reality immersion that leverages AR/VR experiences created by the business groups Transportation, Welding Safety and Fall Protection.

Design
The Innovation Center and adjoined office space have an interior design where natural materials and a modern look represent the culture of 3M in a localized way for Washington, D.C.
Of special note is the lobby feature wall, made of 3M materials. Our “Ideas that Blossom” wall is a visual representation of how ideas are seeded in 3M and how they blossom to create unexpected connections - unique, customer-inspired products that provide solutions across our many markets. It is inspired by D.C. geography – the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers and the iconic cherry blossom.

Location
Located just blocks from the United States Capitol, this is an ideal location for hosting meetings and visiting with customers. In addition to the work space, the Innovation Center has access to a private roof top venue with many great restaurants and tourist attractions such as the Smithsonian Institution, White House, and the National Mall within walking distance. Transportation and lodging are also within easy walking distance and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is reachable with a quick Metro or taxi ride.
